Field notes #2: September 28

Date: September 28, 6:45

Temp: 75°

Length of day: 11 hours, 9 minutes

Field notes:

Today was a little bit humid cloudy, but otherwise nice weather. You could hear the wind rustle the trees in the distance, but at the spot where we were, you couldn't really feel it. Overall, it was still, and the creek was hardly flowing. It had a few leaves in it, as well as a bit of driftwood. We also saw a lot of water skeeters, and frogs. Even though the ground and trees were still wet with previous rain, the creek was dying up on one side (see the picture above: right side). There were also a lot of crickets, and birds that chirped and cawed.

it's a bit hard to see, but this has something shiny in it - algae or bacteria?

  1. GREAT JOB! I love your pictures! The "oil" is probably actually not oil. Bonus if you figure out what it is and post an update with your next visit...it's likely natural. See me if you need any hints.
